So, What Was Special About Jesus?
He Claimed To Be God
Jesus claimed to be God in human flesh. He said:"Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father". He also said:"I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE. No-one comes to the Father except by me" (John 15: 5-9). No other religion claims to know God as Father.
Others Offered Men's Ideas About God
No founder of any other religion claimed to be God. They only offered people men's ideas about God. Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, didn't believe there was a God anyway. Confucius would have abhorred the idea of God coming to this world. Mohammed would have considered it blasphemy if anyone had suggested he was God. Some religions believe in one God, others believe in many Gods. They can't all be right.
Some Facts About Jesus
Jesus said that all authority in Heaven and on earth had been given to him (Matthew 28:18). He offers his followers eternal life and says that one day he will judge the world (John 5: 24-30). Jesus accepted worship from his followers (John 20: 24-28). Jesus claimed he was able to forgive sin, which only God can do (Luke 7: 36-50).
Some Interesting Aspects Of Jesus Life
He never withdrew or modified any statement he ever made.
Jesus never apologised for anything he did or said.
He never sought advice from anyone. Unlike Confucius, he was not well educated. Unlike Mohammed, who could neither read nor write, Jesus was never ignorant. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, sought the advice of others, but Jesus never did.
Jesus never asked anyone to pray for him, nor did he allow anyone to do so.
Jesus came to this world to do something no founder of any other religion ever did - he died to reconcile his followers to God.
No founder of any other religion has ever come back from the dead. Jesus was resurrected and was seen by over 500 of his followers at different times. The basis of Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus. That's impossible if he never rose from the dead.
